What a whirlwind the last few weeks have been! As the downtown core continues to change, we have recognized the need to alter the way we do things to better serve you, our guests. As such, we are creating new uses of our space and developing different types of activities that add to your experience at The Emporium.

If you have been in the store recently, you may have noticed our merchants hard at work as they shift around the store and move to new spaces. If not, we invite you to drop by and see what’s new.

Alongside these internal changes, come changes to partnerships. Due to changing government regulations associated with Wellspring’s program combined with the changing needs of The Emporium, Wellspring Community will no longer be operating a café in The Emporium as of September 27th. However, Wellspring’s artwork will continue to be for sale. We wish Wellspring all the best as they move forward and thank them for their time with us. We have enjoyed watching the STARS (Specially Talented Adults Raising Standards) blossom in their roles in the café and grow in confidence as they served our guests.

So why all the changes?

With the increased demand for classroom space, we will be transforming the original tearoom, and most recently the café, into a classroom and meeting space. We are delighted to be able to expand our offerings of educational opportunities.

We have heard your requests for more local and handmade products. Over the next several weeks, you will see many new local artists make The Emporium their home. From steel signs to handmade jewelry, we are thrilled to be offering more artwork made right here in Douglas County!

We understand your wish for extended seasonal hours. With recent staffing changes, we are now able to be more flexible and stay open when you are downtown attending events and shopping during the holidays.

Finally, if you have been disappointed in the past that we haven’t been able to donate to your school fundraisers and other nonprofits, with these changes in partnerships, we are able to diversify our giving. Be watching for Emporium Gives days when we will donate a percentage of sales to a designated cause. We look forward to being able to be more involved in other nonprofits in our town that are close to our hearts! If you have a worthy cause that you would like to be considered, please apply on our website under the “Make a Request” button at theemporiumcastlerock/com/contact-us/.

Thank you for supporting The Emporium during this transition. Since our inception in 2012, we have sought to create a community gathering space where people can not only shop, but also learn new things and forge connections. We look forward to the future with great anticipation as we strive to reach our goals and meet the needs of you, our guests.
